Carloway 0 v 0 Point ( Carloway win on pens 4-2) 10/4/15

The Reds lost their opening fixture of the 2015 season as they crashed out of the Acres Boys Club Cup on penalties to a resilient Carloway team.
Despite having most of the play and chances the Reds couldn’t get past an inspired Gordon Craigie in the Carloway goal.
It was a frustrating night for the Rudhachs as chances came and went before night fell and the game finished in the dark with people bumping into eachother all over the joint.
Carloway ate some carrots prior to the penalties and so were able to win!
There was plenty of encouraging signs for the Reds including debuts for Elliot, Mowgli  and Donald Gillies, although there was a worrying moment with Andrew Murray being taken off to hospital with a bad knee, the other one! Turns out it’s some ligament damage and we hope he’ll be back in a few weeks; poor Andrew has had a bad time with injuries and had been looking good in pre-season, so fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.
I wasn’t there myself so I don’t have any notes, though Carloway twitter had me on the edge of my seat in Aviemore as I sang happy 70th Birthday to my Mum ( big family gathering!)

Point Man of the match: Defence seemed solid according to twitter so I will give it to Ali G and Stu Flower joint.

Moment of match: As the pens were being taken, I was pacing the balcony in Aviemore with Carloway twitter as my drinking buddy. Refresh refresh refresh refresh (my glass and twitter!) No no  no not penalties again! Then the door opened, my sister in law had surely come out to get the score…..”Do you mind stopping stamping about up here, you’ve woken both your neices downstairs” Not the finest 5 minutes of my life ever…..
